Mount Towrong Vineyard is a small family owned and operated vineyard, nestled in the Macedon Ranges in Victoria. Migrating from the Veneto region of Italy, the Cremasco family have brought with them their love of food and wine, and this passion continues today.
George and Deirdre began planting in 1996 with 2 varieties, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. In 1999 we added Nebbiolo and in 2005 we planted Prosecco. Prosecco is traditionally grown in the mountains of northern Italy, and is well suited to the cold climate of Mount Macedon. The vineyard is situated at 600 metres above sea level. Moderate seasonal rainfall eliminates the need for irrigation.
By practising sustainable farming techniques, we have been able to harvest high quality grapes with a low yield. All grapes are hand-picked and vines are hand pruned. We also work with other vineyards to obtain good quality fruit, specialising in making wine from predominately Italian varietals. We are continually striving to ensure we are growing the best possible fruit, and improving the quality of our wines for your enjoyment.
Come and try our range of wines, including Italian varietals, at our unique cellar door, which is open for wine tastings and sales every weekend.
Each year we showcase our wines in the annual Budburst festival.
