Ellender Estate is a boutique vineyard and winery located at Glenlyon, near Daylesford, in one of Victoria's most stunning rural environments. The first planting of Pinot Noir began in 1996, followed by Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Gris grapes.
The philosophy of winemaker, Graham Ellender, encompasses traditional principles and techniques tempered with science, technology and at times black magic. The traditional basket press finds an honourable position in the winemaking as do oak barrels and hand bottling. Visitors to cellar door are greeted by Lara, Red and Nelle, the very friendly chocolate Labradors.
The cellar has a cosy wood heater to keep you warm in winter or on warmer days, relax in the pavilion overlooking the lake and stunning rock art feature. Visitors are invited to enjoy rustic regional food from the wood-fired oven.
Seasonal regional produce platters with freshly baked bread from the wood fired oven, and wood fired pizzas. The Alan Scott designed wood fired oven is a feature of the outdoor area. Special events are held throughout the year with Guest Chefs or learn how to make Sour Dough Bread in a wood-fired oven.
