About Us
Phillip and Jenifer Kolkka selected the region and site for the potential to grow Pinot Noir and Chardonnay reminiscent of Old World wines and the uniqueness to add the benefits of its own "terroir". The vineyard was planted progressively from 1992 to 2000 and now totals 14 hectares, 70% Pinot Noir, 25% Chardonnay and 5% Pinot Gris. A multilevel winery was built in 2002.
Wines under our second label, Williams Crossing represent exceptional value. Curly Flat and Williams Crossing wines are 100% estate grown and vinified.
Cellar door is open between 12pm and 5pm on weekends and public holidays. We welcome visitors at other times by appointment. Tastings are served in an 1880's homestead with open fireplaces.
Curly Flat wines are served in Australia's finest restaurants and on Emirates First Class International flights.
...Dark brooding black cherry, dark plum and loads of spice; very concentrated on the palate, and the fruit holds on and opens up over an extraordinarily long time...
- James Halliday
..."Nutty, complex nose already. Then wonderful delicacy with floral notes"...
- Jancis Robinson MW

Featured Wines
- 2011 Curly Flat Pinot Noir - "A delightful and characterful Pinot Noir, its spicy allure accented by this cool season without detracting from seamless, juicy red fruit flow, finely textured mouthfeel and great persistence. A triumph" 94 Points - Wine Business Monthly, April 2014
- 2010 Curly Flat Pinot Noir - Healthy, clear red-purple; offers a mix of spicy/savoury and French oak nuances running through the plum and red cherry fruit of the bouquet; the palate is perfectly balanced, and the 22 months in 30% new French oak barrels were judged to perfection. 95 Points - James Halliday
- 2011 Curly Flat Chardonnay "Bright, light yellow colour; very subtle restrained aromas, fresh and citrusy, the oak is almost invisible. In the mouth it's precise and fine, long and refreshing. A superb wine with a long future." 97 Points - Gourmet Wine Traveller
- 2013 Curly Flat Pinot Gris - "A precisely varietal Gris of generous flavours laced with gentle notes of patisserie and mixed spice, subtly fruit sweet and softly textural. Effortless composition makes for wide appeal." 93 Points - Tyson Stelzer April 2014
- 2009 Curly Flat Pinot Noir: - "The nose shows rich raspberry fruit complemented by a hint of stems that add a touch of complexity. The palate has power but also finesse, finishing long, and balanced by firm, fine tannins. This pinot was made with a masterly touch." Winewise Magazine - Rating: "Outstanding" Also Winewise included the CF 2009 Pinot Noir as one of 9 wines that went on to be ‘best of the best’ wines for 2011.
- 2010 Curly Flat Chardonnay: Immediately aromatic, fresh and complex with almond, pear, citrus and almost patisserie fruit characters. Dry and mid weight with firm acidity and beautiful fruit concentration backed by French coconut ice oak likely to come into better balance with time in the bottle. Finishes with excellent length, drying acidity making for a wine likely to reward 8 to 10 years in bottle. Benchmark modern Australian Chardonnay and perhaps the best yet from the team at Curly Flat. Angus Hughson
- 2006 Curly Flat Pinot Noir: James Halliday said Dark brooding black cherry, dark plum and loads of spice; very concentrated on the palate, and the fruit holds on and opens up over an extraordinarily long time. Rating 94"
- 2006 Curly Flat Chardonnay: Jancis Robinson MW rated this wine 18points "Nutty, complex nose already. Then wonderful delicacy with floral notes."
